Southeast Area Leadership Team

We have a need for Assistant Area Directors in Alabama, Mississippi, and North Carolina. If interested in helping out, please contact Vic Salisbury.

Vic Salisbury, Area Director

I currently live in Sarasota , FL with my wife, Caren; and two daughters, Robyn and Cassie. Having been a member of COG since 1999 (#3673) I always have been impressed with the camaraderie and hospitality. I look forward to working with our SE members, and all of COG, who make this group as great as it is. Ride Safe!

Paul Heydemann, South Florida AAD

Since 2001 I've been happily scooting ~25k miles per year on my Conc. But it's the fine folks of COG that has been the real benefit for me. I look forward to serving as AAD for S Floriduh. My other interests include bicycling, boating, hiking, fitness, travel, playing bass, & general hedonism. Seeya down the road...enjoy the ride!
Paulie, Mijami Floriduh, '01 Concours, COG #4561

Bruce Barge, Central Florida AAD (Ocala)

Born in Atlanta, Georgia (GO DAWGS!) I've been a life long resident of the sunshine state currently residing in the granddaddy oak tree shrouded horse county of Ocala. Bikes I have owned and pretty much ridden into the ground include a '74 Kawi Mach III 500, '82 Suzuki 1100 GL, '89 Suzuki Katana 750 and my current ride, the "Barfrocket", a '98 Concours set up mainly for Long Distance Riding. I purchased my '98 in '99 with 1200 miles on it and over the years with much assistance from our past AD Larry Buck, with 115,000 miles now showing on her clock she's finally just right. I dabble in digital photography and some of you may have read my monthly columns in an (once) on-line (but now off-line) motorcycle E-zine called "Rollin' Mag". I'm also a member of the Iron Butt Association and the infamous Chatty Morons. After enjoying my membership in COG for the past 6 years, I felt it was time for me to try and give back some small portion of what I have received. I look forward to being your COG contact point here in North Florida.

Thomas Mann, North Florida AAD

I purchased my `99 from someone in the DC area, flew up and rode it home in Jan`07. It had 13k miles on it then, and now has well over 70k. I ride it as my sole means of transportation and use it everyday. I'm always up for a good ride be it a day trip or long distance. It is now known as the Warbird and has 17" wheels at each end, C14 rear shock, plus many, many other modifications.

Reid Yeargan, South Georgia AAD

After riding for about 20 yrs, I took a five year hiatus. Never could shake the longing to ride and I bought my 98 Concours last April and immediately joined the COG. I had already been looking at the COG website and was extremely impressed with the cooperation and camaraderie that I saw there. That is what I hope to bring to the SECOG. I love riding and I love getting together with people who also share this great passion. I look forward to meeting as many fellow COGers as possible. Let's head down the road!

Jack Ferguson, Atlanta Georgia AAD

Jack is a relative newcomer to COG as he returned to riding after an 18 year hiatus last year with the acquisition of an 86 Concours from his brother in Texas . He lives with his wife and two children in the Atlanta area and has been the house-husband for the past four years. Jack is originally from Texas , but has been a resident of Georgia since 1980. He recently completed his first Saddlesore 1000 ride and joined with some folks from the Motorcycle Touring Forum for a couple of rides-to-eat. Jack started riding in Japan in 1969 and has owned several bikes through the years. He's looking forward to the Winding Rivers and Roads Rally as well as planning other rides for the remainder of the year. Any help from other members with suggestions for rides would be appreciated.

John Carver, East Georgia AAD, SE Area Newsletter Editor

Started riding at age 15, Vespa scooter. Since then it has been a wide variety of bikes, on and off road, but never in a competitive manner. The Concours, I have ridden it for 9 years, the LT is the wife's preferred ride, so I guess that settles how we both get there. I also have an 86 Concours which is a project bike that may never get finished, still rounding up parts.

My interests, motorcycles, computers, photography, and building things. Most recently again took up wood turning.

Robert Elliott, North Georgia AAD

Current North GA AAD, willing to help out and wrench, still learning some of the tricks. Love being close to the NGA/NC Mountains. Current host of the WRRR. Also a certified SCUBA diver and PADI Assistant Instructor. Questions, feel free to ask.

Jim Culp, South Carolina AAD

Retired military. Married with two grown children (one boy, one girl) and 3 grandchildren (2 boys & 1 girl) Enjoy hunting (Hunter Safety Instructor), scuba diving (Scuba Diving Instructor), flying (Private Pilot) and motorcycling (MSF RiderCoach). Currently ride a 2000 ZG1000 and a 2002 GoldWing (my wife's choice for riding 2 up).

Jack McVickers, Tennessee AAD

I have been a member of cog for many years and served as the south Alabama AAD.I retired from work and my wife, Gwynn, and I moved to middle Tennessee. We live right next to the Natchez Trace in a small town called Hohenwald in Lewis county.  Being retired has given me much more time to ride, and I am enjoying that.

David Hicks, Southeast Area Webmaster

I live in Marietta, GA, and have been involved with COG since August 2001. I took on the task of Southeast Region Web Master in the summer of 2003 and have been enjoying contributing something back to the group. By day, I am a software engineer.

In December 2005, I was stricken by Multiple Sclerosis.  As a result, I am no longer able to ride.  But, I still like to hang out and socialize with my COG brethren.  I think it was Larry Buck who said, "You join for the bike, but you stay for the people." That's certainly been true in my case.
