Savanna-Galena Weekend Ride
This year, we’ll be returning to the historic towns of Savanna and Galena in north-eastern Illinois for our September ride. Those of us in Southeastern Wisconsin will meet at the McDonalds at I-94 and Hwy 83 on Saturday morning, and be gassed and ready to head out by 9:00 am.
08/25/2023 Update (New Meetup Location): We’ll meet other Wisconsin riders at the Kwik Trip station located at 7583 W Mineral Point Rd, Verona, WI 53593 at around 10:15 am.
After a tour through southwestern Wisconsin, we’ll meet our Minnesota and Iowa friends at our lunch stop at the Winneshiek Bar & Grill, 32785 Co Rd K, Prairie du Chien between 12:30 and 1:00. Then we’ll cross the Mississippi and head south on the Iowa side before crossing back to spend the night in Savanna Illinois.
Lodging
Ride Central will be at La Hacienda Inn, 2000 N. Oakton Rd in Savanna. They have a vintage limo available to transport us to local restaurants and bars. The rate for a 2-bed room is $60.
Make your own reservations at La Hacienda as soon as possible by calling (563) 599-3447 and telling the owner, Ralph, that you’re with the COG group. As of August 17, 2023, Ralph says they have about 4 rooms left on the Saturday we’ll be arriving. Another option for (significantly higher priced) accommodations is the Savanna Inn and Suites, 101 Valley View Rd, Savanna, IL - (815) 273-2288.
