2026 Banff and Drumheller Tour  

Join Jesal Odedra on a tour of southern Alberta and BC's majestic beauty, including Banff. Here is what Jesal is asking of anyone who wants to participate.

Here's the itinerary:

Monday, September 21, 2026 – Meet at the Tim Hortons coffee shop in Cranbrook, BC, at noon. Remember that Cranbrook is in Mountain Time. We will leave Cranbrook at 1:00 p.m. and head to Jesal's house in Calgary.

We will take Highway 93 to Radium, where we will fuel up before heading over the pass. Depending on the range of the machines in our group, we could fuel up again in Canmore or at the Stoney Nakoda Resort.

It's 4.5 hours of riding time plus stops. We will get to the house around 6:00 p.m. or so. There is a nearby plaza where we can get dinner, a 7-minute walk away.

Tuesday, September 22, and Wednesday, September 23 – We will do day rides from Calgary, either Drumheller or Banff. Depending on the weather, we will choose which day to do each ride.

Day Ride – Drumheller

Leave the house by 8:00 a.m. Ride prairie roads for two hours from Calgary to Drumheller, AB.

Visit Horseshoe Canyon, stop at Tim Hortons for a coffee break, then continue to the Star Mine, Hoodoos, the Suspension Bridge, and the Eleven Bridges to Wayne, where we will have lunch at the Last Chance Saloon.

At 2:00 p.m., visit the Royal Tyrell Museum for two hours. Ride to see Horsethief Canyon, take the Bleriot Ferry across the Red Deer River, and then loop back to the town of Drumheller.

Dinner at Yavis Family Restaurant in Drumheller before the ride back to Calgary, or we could ride back to Calgary to have dinner.

Day Ride – Banff

After breakfast at the house, we will do a day trip to Banff. Ride Highway 1A past Ghost Lake to Canmore, then Highway 1 to Banff (1.5 hours, 115 km).

Our day in Banff should be pre-planned by having a conversation with those who are coming on this trip to see which attractions folks want to prioritize. Tickets for some attractions come with specific time slots, so that will inform the planning for the rest of the day.

Lunch and dinner locations are TBD; there are plenty of great options. Back to Jesal's house in Calgary for the night.

Thursday, September 24 – After breakfast at the house, we head to Cranbrook for the night.

From Calgary, we take Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail) south to Highway 3. Stops include Lundbreck Falls and the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre. If we want a longer day, and if Highway 40 is open, we can add two hours to the day by riding Highwood Pass in the morning.

Lunch at Cinnamon Bear Café in Coleman. Then continue through Sparwood and Fernie to Cranbrook for the night.

Dinner: TBD.

Friday, September 25 – After breakfast, folks head their separate ways.

There are no registration fees, but we're asking everyone to register online so Jesal has an idea of how many people to expect.  Also, once registered, please contact Jesal ASAP to discuss trip options and confirm lodging arrangements.
